West East Link pipeline

West East Link pipeline

Construction began in spring 2009 on a £125 million pipeline that will carry water from Prescot in Merseyside to Bury in Greater Manchester. It will take two years to complete and when finished will improve United Utilities’ ability to transport water around the North West, securing the water supply for future generations.

In the last financial year, 13.5km of the 55km pipe was laid and 16 tunnels were constructed, including those underneath the M6 and M61 motorways and the west coast main line railway.
